How to network with other wedding pros
In the wedding world, it's important to network with other vendors. You never know who you will meet or what they might be able to do for you in the future. It's also good to get to know other vendors because they can provide insights into their business and how they work with brides.
Hey there!
Hey there! You’re looking great. How are you?
I’m [name of person], and I run [business name]. We help couples plan their wedding, from the invitations to the cake—you know what I mean. What do you do?
That sounds great. Tell me a little more about your business.
Oh, that sounds fun! What is your favorite part of working as a wedding vendor?
What would be your dream wedding scenario for someone planning their big day right now?
Do you have any tips or advice for people who are just starting out with this whole wedding planning thing?
Ask them to coffee or lunch.
Ask them to coffee or lunch.
This is a great way to get to know each other and you can both learn something from each other, which is a win-win! You could ask them questions about their business and what they do, get recommendations for future vendors and learn more about the industry. If you're really looking to bond and build a relationship with your wedding vendors (which we highly recommend), this is one of the best ways to do it!
Ask them to join a Facebook group.
If you can't find a group for your city or state, there are plenty of other groups that will connect you with vendors from all over the world. The best part about joining these groups is that they're free and open to anyone who wants to join them! Here's how it works:
Post an update on your personal Facebook page telling people about the group and asking if any of your friends would be interested in joining. You can also post it in the Facebook groups where other wedding vendors are located (like the one above) or even just send out an email blast to everyone on your mailing list letting them know about the group as well.
Once you start getting responses, set up some ground rules such as how often members should post updates so that things don't get too overwhelming once everyone starts connecting with each other online through Facebook messenger conversations instead of actual phone calls/texts/etc...
Go to vendor-only events.
There are a few different ways to find out about vendor events in your area. First, you can talk to other local industry professionals and ask them if they know of any upcoming events. If you're looking for some more suggestions, here are some great online resources:
Wedding Wire has a list of vendor-only events that are scheduled across the country - check it out here!
Weddings by Design also has an event calendar that includes a variety of different types of events hosted by wedding professionals - see what's coming up here!
Know who they are.
Know who they are!
Ask them how they got started in their industry. This is a great way to start any conversation, and it will show you’re interested in them as a person and not just the services they provide.
Find out what kind of clientele they cater to (a good way to do this is by looking at their portfolio or any websites that showcase weddings). If there are some commonalities between your clientele and theirs, then it could make sense for you both to team up on one project together.
It's important to meet other vendors because you never know what can come out of it!
Meeting other wedding vendors is a great way to get your name out there and learn about what others are doing. You never know who you’ll meet, or what connections you can make. It’s all about networking!
You can learn a lot from other vendors, whether they do photography or floral design. You can ask them questions about their services and even ask them for advice on how they run their business.
The best way to network with other wedding vendors is to be friendly and have a conversation with them. You will never know what can come out of it!
